"We are having to drink dirty water from a stagnant pond because there has been so little rain. People are getting stomach ache and other sickness from drinking bad water.
"I have nothing in my house to feed my children. I cannot say what will happen in the coming weeks and months. I have sowed some maize and with God's help I will get a harvest later this year."

"We had to leave the village and live in the Bush because of Savimbi (rebel leader). We stayed in the Bush for eight years, eating wild plants, nothing else.
