"When you begin to think outside the box, you often become some other "leaders" lousy follower. That usually costs something" (Andy Rayner)

"Our guardian angels are bored." (Mike Foster)

It's where I feel I'm at these days. “In the second half of life, it is good just to be a part of the general dance. We do not have to stand out, make defining moves, or be better than anyone else on the dance floor. Life is more participatory than assertive, and there is no need for strong or further self-definition” (Falling Upward. Richard Rohr.120).

Participating In The Healing Of People

"A few years back I was the featured speaker at the Indiana Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. I found myself sitting with the then youngest (thirty-six years old) governor in the country, Evan Bayh. He’s also a very devout Christian. He turned to me and said, “Brennan, you’re in just about every nook and cranny of the United States. You’re in every college and university, from Campus Crusade to Young Life, and in an incredible number of churches as well. What do you hear the Spirit of God saying to the American church?”I said, “Well, Governor Bayh, if there’s one thing I hear with growing clarity, it’s that God is calling each and every Christian to personally participate in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”

Healing is a response to a crisis in the life of another person. It’s enough of a response, a satisfactory response to a crisis in the life of another."

Losing Emotional Fat

"They noticed that I'd lost some weight, but I told them it was nothing compared to the "emotional fat"- all the things I thought I could never do without that had melted away along the Trail."

It Happened on A Footpath, Not A Freeway

"It was not an intellectual awareness. It was spiritual. For me, it was the difference between drawing the molecular structure water and drinking from a spring. My fellow hikers discovered it by watching the sunset, not the lights of Manhattan. It happened on the footpath, not a freeway"

I Saw It With My Soul

".... rainfalls in the mountains, the water runs to the Sea, the evaporation forms clouds and the whole thing starts over. On the trail, I saw it with my soul for the first time."

My Courage Grew

Jesus Needed 40 Days Maybe You Need Three Or Four?

"It was an important day in my life when at last I understood that if he needed forty days in the wilderness at one point, I very likely could use three or four."

~ Dallas Willard. The Divine Conspiracy

"But his use of solitude, silence, study of scripture, prayer, and service to others all had a disciplinary aspect in his life."

The Church Did Its Job

"In so many places, there are signs of the Holy Spirit working at all levels of society. The church might well have done its work as leaven, because much of this reform, enlightenment, compassion, and healing is outside the bounds of organized religion. Only God is going to get the credit."

~ Richard Rohr
