- Nietzsche
Socialism ― or the tyranny of the meanest and the most
brainless, ―that is to say, the superficial, the envious, and the
mummers, brought to its zenith, ―is, as a matter of fact, the logical
conclusion of “modern ideas” and their latent anarchy: but in the genial
atmosphere of democratic well-being the capacity for forming
resolutions or even for coming to an end at all, is paralysed.
Men follow―but no longer their reason. That is why socialism is on the
whole a hopelessly bitter affair: and there is nothing more amusing than
to observe the discord between the poisonous and desperate faces of
present-day socialists―and what wretched and nonsensical feelings does
not their style reveal to us! ―and the childish lamblike happiness of
their hopes and desires.

"Keep safe and don't let the wackadoodles get to you. They got to me and I suspect I will never be the same again." (Friend,AB) "The farsighted tend to get blindsided by the near sighted." Barry Kolb
"When you begin to think outside the box, you often become some other "leaders" lousy follower. That usually costs something" (Andy Rayner)
"Our guardian angels are bored." (Mike Foster)
It's where I feel I'm at these days. “In the second half of life, it is good just to be a part of the general dance. We do not have to stand out, make defining moves, or be better than anyone else on the dance floor. Life is more participatory than assertive, and there is no need for strong or further self-definition” (Falling Upward. Richard Rohr.120).
